Meet Scott

As our team’s Chief Operating Officer and Wealth Advisor, Scott has a desire to serve and help people to help them pursue their goals and be successful. He considers the most fulfilling part of his job to be helping clients understand where they are at, where they want to go, how to get there, and then watch them succeed while enjoying the journey.

Scott graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph. He then continued his education at Missouri Western State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Before joining Gertsema Wealth Advisors, Scott was at Chick-Fil-A in St. Joseph for 6 ½ years serving as the Director of Operations, as well as a tax auditor for the Missouri Department of Revenue for a year.

Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, Claire, and their two daughters. They typically play outside anytime they can. Scott and his wife are also big supporters of YoungLife and serve on the committee for the St. Joseph area. In his free time, he loves to exercise or watch the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks (his favorite sports teams!) One of his most recent is grilling and smoking meats for dinnertime.
